TEXAS, BY GOD!

We Texans fought for what we have down at the Alamo
We earned our freedom from the folks way down in Mexico
We like our football, we like our women, that is what we said
We like our stuff really big, and pray that it comes in red
Texans are a prideful lot, we’d rather fight than cede
But you if need help by God, we’ll give you what you need
We stand on own two feet, no charity do we ever ask
But cross us once and find out quick who ends up on their ass
We Texans don’t like folks coming in and taking our hard earned stuff
When you steal from us, don’t get caught, the penalty is mighty ruff
Cross the Rio Grande into our land is a success that you can only hope
We’ll be waitin’ for you on this side with a Winchester rifle and a scope
We Texans don’t leave this border work all to the Border Patrol men
We don’t want a bunch of illegal freeloaders on our Lone Star land
So if you’re feelin’ lucky and can’t find a way to scratch that itch
Then come on over, the buzzards will eat you, you illegal sum-bitch
We Texans don't want your government grants, your federal bribery
Just leave us all the hell alone, this state is the land of the free
We got us some oil and we got pride, and we got ourselves some tough
So just don’t back us in a corner for we can get mad-dog rough
We’re long-horn herding, bull-riding, bronco bustin’, dusty cowboys
We mind our own business, you mind yours, we’ll all get our joys
But cross us once and raise our dander , it comes up really quick
Before you know, you’ll be lying with your ass good n’ kicked
We’re the Lone Star State, on that point you can always rely
We’re Texans and we’re Americans too until the day we die
Come and be a part of us, come and join our fray
But when you come, just be damn sure, you do things our way
Texans all, we do or die, for the Lone Star state we love
It is the land made in Heaven sent from somewhere up above
We’ll not share it with illegals, they can stay away from our cultures
Heed us not, cross our border and become a meal for the vultures.

Don't mess with Texas! Nicely done cheers.
Hey there Duke, almost have you persuaded me to leave hell for Texas. But I like my hollers here too much.
My friend as usual the proud Texan comes out of you and I can't say I blame you, I feel the same way about your beautiful state. If I was an American citizen Texas is the state I'd be. I have 18-wheeled all over your beautiful country and Lone Star Texas has been good to me. A cowboy at heart I'm with you bro and I would fight to defend her borders, watch me now. Winchester aimed and ready. Illegals no way, stay away or it's Alamo war once more. Pardner a great hub and I am with you back to back on this one. Bravo.
I was going to say,"Yeah, Don't mess with Texas!" but ladyjane already did. So.........Great lines!
Leave to Johnny to write about Hell..he experienced right here on earth and shared it with us all in his songs. He is one of my ICONIC balladeers along with the King. Hey Wayne I've joined the club of hat wearers. Rawlus, 50 Calb and yourself. So to honor the great Johnny Cash I tip my black brim to the man in black.
Well, I'm back, the fog has lifted. I'm back, to read the gifted. This is good ole cowboy poetry. Liked it, Duke. Also, will get to your music stuff as I promised to do. (:v
"We Texans do want your government grants, your federal bribery"
I think you meant to say don't want your government grants,..
Great poem. I'm not a Texan, but I I have family there. Does that count?
Wayne, we may have beaners jumpin the fence but if the media knew the failures they've had at surviving that flight they'd be following vultures and digging up sand piles to see what's below, We didn't have no Alamo, the wets just handed it over crappin' their Caballero style drawers lettin' in some folks with more ethics for hard work, than America will ever know again, people are raising kids with no brains for what it has took for Texans and us here in the land of Ira Hayes to survive all this shit. People of the country ain't seen nothing yet there's a bad wind blowing and I know of two states they'll have to leave out, as for this one, I'd sooner join the Mexicans than the pukes in the place they call DC, it's gonna be ride when it gets here. A few other states too have been to the mat and they won't fall as easy as others, either, at the Alamo I believe it was Texans and the bunch from the Hills of Tennessee that mustered up in the fight, If they want it again I wish they'd stop lolli gagin and bring it, I ain't gettin no younger and I do love a fight and I'd hate to hear it second hand in the next life! 50
Wayne,
if things keep going like they are and Texas cecedes, I'm heading down your way!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wayne, you took off the hat! You cain't fight without that! I dint really think you were bald and cone-headed old son. Go git 'em Dusty!
Geez and here I was thinking it was because I put my ugly mug under my black hat that you decided to take yours off. By the way old Kirk Douglas would be proud of you old son to quote CC. with that dimpled chin. I just watched a rerun of Kirk in Spartacus last night, along with Laurence Olivier, Tony Curtis and a few other big stars of that day. Old Kirk did a fine job with his chin:-)) Just kidding aside my friend you look groovy with those shades. Peace
Good cowboy poetry Wayne. Yes indeed, Texas is a special, special place. Wish I were back there!
*sniff* That was beautiful! God Blessed Texas...and that's no lie.
Don't worry 'bout those score, that's greenhorn stuff old son. Don't mean chit! SR is right about Douglas. hey, come join us on facebook, Dusty, Ken and me. Look us up.
Interesting! Too bad your college football teams aren't good enough to beat the SEC! LOL! (joking of course) Keep trying though!
LOL@ Randy good one!
LOL, Wayne! Glad you received a little advanced culture by attending a school outside Texas! A good shot to the "junior maker" can sometimes do wonders! Enjoyed jousting with you!
Randy
Thanks Wayne! Actually, I wish the Longhorns were in the SEC! They always have a good team because high school football is revered in Texas as it is here in the southeast! Yes, Charlie is a great guy! Later on Wayne!
Randy

i love this. i love all that is texas. well put. am from juja kenya and am proud of my home as you are yours and by God am jot down a hub to prove it.
Thanks for the history lesson! Heading to the San Jacinto Monument (and BattleShip Texas) on Monday. Always amazed at the wisdom and unselfishness (if that's a word) of Sam Houston for trading Santa Anna's life/freedom for the freedom of Texas. A man wanting revenge and boasting his power would have killed Santa Anna without a second thought. And then where would Texas be?
